Meet the team!

Updated: Mar 12, 2021

Sarah is off to have a baby from March 1st until the beginning of October and as she is expanding her own family, she thought it would be a great time to expand The Singing Practice family as well.

From March onwards you will be able to pick from three (four when Sarah is back from Maternity Leave) different teachers who all have their own expertise and teaching style.

You can find more information about each of them below and in the 'Meet the Team' section on the website.

Hi, my name is Juliet and I am a soprano from Scotland!

I have always loved singing and began studying with tutors at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland when I was at high school. From there I went to Manchester where I received my 1st Class BMus(Hons) degree and Masters degree at the Royal Northern College of Music. Since graduating I have been lucky enough to perform across Europe as well as up and down the UK with companies such as Opera North, Scottish Opera, Buxton Opera, The National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company and Opera Holland Park.

Alongside my singing work I have been teaching for nearly seven years providing vocal tuition to people of all ages and abilities. I have extensive experience in preparing students for ABRSM, LCM and Rockschool exams and many of my students have successfully auditioned for musical theatre, classical singing and popular music courses in higher education. I am really looking forward to joining The Singing Practice!

Hi, my name is David and I’m a baritone. I started singing as a chorister in Leicester Cathedral Choir when I was about 8 years old, and haven’t stopped singing since.

I studied for my undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge where I sang as a choral scholar in the world-famous King’s College chapel choir. With the choir I sang the daily services, took part in radio and TV broadcasts and had the opportunity to go on tour to concert venues all around the world.

I then completed my postgraduate studies in vocal performance at the Royal Northern College of Music and have been performing regularly since then both as a soloist and in choirs.

As well as performing, I have been teaching singing for just under 10 years in a variety of settings to singers of all ages, from 8 to 80! I have lots of experience in preparing students for ABRSM and Trinity exams, with a significant number achieving merit and distinction results!

Really looking forward to joining the team at The Singing Practice and can’t wait to get singing with you!

Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm the founder of The Singing Practice. I moved to the UK in 2013 to start my MMus at the Royal Northern College of Music after having completed my Teacher's degree, MMus and BMus at the Royal Conservatoire of Music of Antwerp (Belgium). Even though I had originally planned to only stay for a year, I soon fell in love with Manchester, the city's people and all the beautiful countryside nearby.

I started The Singing Practice from my living room in Manchester City Centre after I finished my PGDip at the RNCM and combined this with singing for companies like West Green House, PopUp Opera, Opera Loki and Iford Opera.

Singing is so often perceived as something you either can or can't do, but it is my belief that everyone can sing. All you need is a thorough understanding of how your instrument works and a healthy singing technique. Once you know how your voice works, you'll start feeling more in control and you'll soon feel confident in reaching your singing goals.

I'll be going on maternity leave from March 1st until the beginning of October, but I'll still be running the website and doing all the admin behind the scenes. You'll be able to email each of the teachers separately on their <name>@thesingingpractice.co.uk email address, but all info@thesingingpractice.co.uk emails will still be answered by me. So if you need me, feel free to send me an email and I'll get back to you asap.
